Overview of class
This course will provide an introduction to philosophical thought and survey major issues and questions within various branches of philosophy (i.e. metaphysics, epistemology, value theory, ethics). We will examine some classic texts to establish a foundation for further discussion and then consider the ways in which these problems show up in contemporary philosophy and more importantly, our individual lives. Topics will range from the nature of reality to what justice requires of us and the questions we will engage with range from the silly (e.g. is a hotdog a sandwich?) to the serious (e.g. what is the meaning of my life?).
Registration Requirements
Prerequisites: none.
