Overview of class

No press, no studio, no problem. We will explore several methods for creating editioned and monograph prints using non-traditional materials including low and no cost recycled and repurposed supplies, matrices and machines. Etchings without acids, drypoint without aluminum nor plexiglass, ghost printing without a mimeograph printer. We will make use of DIY solutions such as modified tortilla presses, pasta makers but also make best use of technology to simplify processes such as laser cutters and printers.

These techniques can be used almost anywhere. They take up little space, do not require a heavy press and are fast, cheap and easy to source. Students will create short run editions and monographs as they explore each technique presented for relief, intaglio and monograph printmaking. It will culminate with a plan for distribution/dissemination.
