Overview of class
How does the singing actor incorporate spoken-word acting techniques into song acting? How does the acting of a song become personal, specific, and authentic? How can practice become rehearsal? In this course, students will learn and implement analysis, rehearsal, and performance techniques for solo song acting. Lab meets in assigned blocks of 10 minutes each, to provide music support (as needed). This class is required for students in the Music Theatre Certificate program, and is intended for 3rd years. Advanced MT Techniques 2 will explore ensemble rehearsal and performance.

Sheet music (printed or e-PDF), binder or tablet for sheet music, recording/playback device for rehearsal tracks.
