Overview of class

This course is an advanced course in lighting design composition. In this class, we will examine light as an artistic medium. We will begin by exploring each the properties of light: angle, color, intensity, texture, and time. We will focus specifically on how each of the properties of light interact with the body in physical space. As we continue our explorations, we will investigate how to use source materials and research to develop ideas of light and how to begin to integrate them into a generative non- hierarchical collaborative practice. Through a series of discussions and workshops, we will start to develop an artistic practice that uses these properties individually and in combination as a way of generating moments of live performance.
