Overview of class

Over the course of Theatre 321-2 Advanced Design Process: Costume students will analyze, research, and render costume designs for one fairytale of their choosing and the play August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. Students will generate costume plots, look lists, research packets, preliminary sketches, color plotting, final renderings, and a bibliography for both projects. Students will present and submit weekly assignments as they work through these design benchmarks. After instructor and students have presented, if time permits, there will be the opportunity for one on one mentoring with the instructor and self directed studio time. Please bring the necessary materials for studio time to every class session. Students will also build collaboration skills by cultivating active listening skills, a deeper willingness to try new ideas, actively contribute to group critique, and developing a practice of productive and positive self-critique.
