Overview of class
The first year in general focuses on developing the actor as an instrument of perception, interpretation and communication on stage. This is an experiential class focusing on sensory awareness and observation of self, of others and of the world around us as the means to understanding that stimulus and kinesthetic response are the sparks that ignite an actor's needs/wants/objectives in performance. This course is designed to instill in the student actor a comprehensive understanding of how a deep belief in and embodiment of imaginary circumstances and the stimulus, impulses, and needs they spur become the basic tools needed for creating believable human behavior on stage. Acknowledging that none of us stands alone, we will strive through our work to allow each student to uncover/discover and engage with their unique cultural heritages to fully embody their most authentic voice.
