Overview of class

This graduate seminar will survey some of the emergent challenges with applications of generative AI, LLMs, and related tools in the empirical social sciences, with special attention to methodological and metascientific concerns surrounding the AI-generated simulation, replication, or substitution of human-generated data, observations, or classifications. Some prior work in graduate-level applied statistics and empirical research methods is recommended.
