Overview of class
This course examines media representations of South Asian Americans across a range of media forms, including film, television, theater, and social media. The course will focus on representations of race, caste, skin color, gender, sexuality, religion, post colonialism, and neoliberal globalization.
Learning Objectives
Students will learn how to semiotically analyze media forms and connect representation to broader social processes.
