Overview of class

Topics in Semantics. A seminar in semantics, focusing on contemporary issues including speech acts and discourse modeling.

Registration Requirements

Prerequisite: LING 370 or permission of instructor.

Learning Objectives

Develop an understanding of contemporary approaches to long-standing issues in formal semantics. Deepen knowledge of the formal tools used to model language meaning. Read and understand advanced texts in semantics and its interfacing disciplines. 

Teaching Method

Lectures and discussion.

Evaluation Method

In-class presentation, final paper, literature review for final paper.
