This course is designed for Master of Arts in Sound Arts and Industries students anticipating further graduate studies upon completion of the SAI degree, and as a capstone to their work in the program. Toward that end, and working closely with a faculty advisor, thesis students will create a piece of scholarly research or other work f appropriate length, depth and sophistication for application dossiers, following a similar time commitment and footprint to a more traditional internship.
Learning Objectives
- To independently research and create work of a sufficiently professional caliber to qualify a student for work in Sound Studies at the PhD level or work in Sound Art at the MFA level.
- To allow students to explore and to express who they are as an artist-scholar, as a capstone to their experience and in a self-reflective manner.
- To push the boundaries of Sound Studies research and practice at the graduate level.
