Overview of class

This course equips Master of Arts in Sound Arts and Industries students with tools, perspectives, and strategies to navigate and advance their professional careers. Through reflection, research, discussion, and applied projects, students will explore how careers in sound are built over time through relationships, experimentation, collaboration, and emerging opportunities while developing strategies for navigating their careers with greater clarity, adaptability, and intention.


Students will deepen their understanding of their professional identities while examining the ways careers in sound and media take shape. The course emphasizes both practical career development and long-term professional growth through reflection, professional storytelling, relationship-building, and strategic career planning.


Throughout the course, students will have opportunities to engage with alumni and professionals who have shaped their own careers across the sound and media industries. By the end of the course, students will have developed a career strategy and stronger framework for building a sustainable career in sound.
