Overview of class

MSLCE 497 is comprised of two components - a seminar and experiential learning - and you will earn 3 credits toward the MSLCE degree upon the successful completion of both components. This seminar part of the course is a hybrid model with asynchronous weekly content via CANVAS, additional synchronous opportunities for professional development content, and optional synchronous sessions for peer to peer/cross pollination of learning with your accountability groups. Because of the self-guided pace of work, it is imperative for students to communicate with the instructor in advance of course requirements and deadlines.

The seminar supports your professional growth and development through a structured curricular component
which complements your summer quarter of experiential learning through an internship, fellowship,
apprenticeship, or consulting project (minimum of 160 hours during the quarter) which offers supervised learning at an organization focused on the creative industries or within a creative department. Seminar topics cover bridging curricular learning to experiential learning; furthering your career development strategy and planning; expanding your professional knowledge and skill development related to your desired industry; and elevating professional presence, outreach, and engagement.
