Overview of class

This upper-level seminar revolves around work in progress by leading external speakers studying contemporary issues in normative political theory. Subjects range widely, from the ethics of AI regulation, through the demands of social equality, to contemporary issues in international ethics. Speakers' presentations will be coupled with pre-circulated readings meant to give students background regarding the relevant scholarly debates.

or

POLI_SCI 305: Integrity and the Politics of Corruption.

Learning Objectives

Students will deepen their familiarity with ongoing debates in political theory, while also deepening their understanding of the process of academic research in the field.

Evaluation Method

Class participation - 50% of grade
Short essay (c. 1500 words) - 20% of grade
Final paper extending short essay based on class feedback (c. 3000 words) - 30% of grade
