Overview of class

What is education for? Who should it serve? Who decides? This class focuses on the political and legal contention in U.S. education, with a special focus on the Supreme Court decisions Brown and SFFA.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, students should be able to 1) identify central tensions in US education politics, 2) contextualize current contentions in historical context, and 3) work with primary sources and original data on education issues.
