Overview of class
This course includes close readings and discussion of a spectrum of contemporary Latiné plays, a brief history of Latino playwrighting and the performance of scenes and/or monologues from a selection of the plays covered in the course.
The Latiné Theatre Special Topics class is a hybrid history/lit/crit and scene study-course designed to explore contemporary Latino Theatre in the United States through the close reading of a spectrum of Latiné plays, and the rehearsal/performance of scenes or monologues from one of the plays read in the class. No previous acting experience is required though desirable.
Registration Requirements
To ensure that everyone has a fair and equal opportunity to enroll in a Senior Topic Acting Class, we will be continuing with a preference form model. Please fill out the form that will be sent by the department office and you will be assigned an acting class. All remaining spaces will be given out by the acting teachers after the assignments are made. This is to ensure everyone has an opportunity to enroll in at least one section. The acting teachers will not have permission numbers for their classes before each student who filled out the form is assigned a section. Please do not contact the instructors until after we know where there is space available. Once you receive your permission number to register, you are free to contact other instructors directly if you wish to take an additional Senior Topics Acting Class. Juniors will be including in the email for the preference form in case they wish to take the course as Theatre 347 - Latine Theatre for HLCT credit.
