Overview of class

The Brain: Structure, Function and Evolution will provide an overview of the evolution of the nervous system and cognition, from the origin of neurons to the structure/function of human brains.

Registration Requirements

Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Students must have completed BIOL SCI 202-0 or BIOL_SCI 240-0, 203-0 or BIOL_SCI 241-0, and BIOL_SCI 301-0; or NEUROSCI 206-0 in order to register for this course.

Recommended that students have completed BIOL_SCI 302-0 or BIOL_SCI 325-0 or BIOL_SCI 344-0 before registering for this course.

Teaching Method

A combination of lectures, small group discussions and problem-solving sessions

Evaluation Method

3 exams (multiple choice, short answer, short essay) and participation in class and small group discussions

Enrollment Requirements: Reserved for Biology Majors until the end of preregistration, after which time enrollment will be open to everyone who has taken the prerequisites and registered for any required corequisites. Prerequisite: Students must have completed BIOL SCI 202-0 or BIOL_SCI 240-0, 203-0 or BIOL_SCI 241-0, and BIOL_SCI 301-0; or NEUROSCI 206-0 in order to register for this course.
