Overview of class

This studio course introduces students to screen printing and linocut as both critical and creative tools for exploring the intersections of the body, landscape, and political space. Printmaking is approached not only as a technical process, but as a conceptual method; a means of thinking, visualizing, and communicating ideas through repetition, gesture, and trace.

Students will investigate how the body leaves marks, how landscapes hold memory, and how printed images can move fluidly between intimacy and public address. Projects will include editioned prints, rubbings, and experimental impressions that expand into installation, spatial interventions, and performative actions. Throughout the course, we will challenge the limits of the printed surface, considering how prints can function beyond the page; on walls, floors, bodies, and in motion, and how printmaking can be activated, worn, carried, and performed.
