Overview of class

Travel changes us - and the people and places we report on. This class explores how to be responsible travelers and journalists who create stories that move, inform and entertain audiences in a sustainable manner. We'll analyze/discuss engaging pieces and learn about the evolution of travel journalism. We'll discuss development of ideas for different media outlets that cover travel, and practice how to pitch and report those stories. This class covers the ethics and logistics of reporting about people, communities and places and challenges us to understand the impact that journalists can have.
