Senior Citizens Theatre Production: Singin' in the Rain
Students enrolled in this Practicum will assist in the Evanston Parks & Recreation Department's senior citizen production of Singin' in the Rain as ad-hoc Stage Managers, Performers, Rehearsal Assistants, and Designers. Students are expected to be in attendance for all rehearsals, which will take place Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2-3:50pm at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, as well as the final performances on May 30 & 31. Students are likely to be on-stage participants in the final production.
This new offering by the Evanston Parks & Recreation Department empowers senior individuals to not simply experience theatre as an audience member or a volunteer, but to be the actors, singers, and storytellers in a production that caters to their individual talents. Some may be taking the stage for the first time, while others may be returning to a passion that has not previously had an outlet in their third act of life. This production will cater to the physical and cognitive needs of its participants, culminating in a final production that is wholly unique.
