Overview of class
This course will introduce students to the public humanities and create space to explore how theatre, dance, and performance scholars incorporate oral history into their publicly engaged work (e.g. performances, exhibits, community oral history projects, digital archives, podcasts, films, community events, and political actions). Students will also receive training in how to conduct oral history interviews and other structured interviews. The course will also include an experiential learning component: partnering with Albany Park Theater Project to create a digital archive of oral history interviews related to a recent production.
Registration Requirements
Contact the instructor for a permission number. In your email, please include a short paragraph explaining why you would like to take the course and any public humanities-related experiences or courses you've taken before.
