Overview of class
Working in concert with the practices studied in RTVF 220, this course will introduce fundamentals of moving image production. Throughout the course, students will participate in a series of projects that build skills for all stages of the production process. Through lectures, readings, screenings, labs, and individual and group assignments, all students will learn basic skills for working in audiovisual media (e.g. directing, visual design, cinematography, sound, and editing) with an emphasis on developing artistic collaboration. We will also use the experience of audiovisual production to interrogate historical and contemporary artistic practices with an eye toward the relationship and tension between directorial POV and visual culture.
