Overview of class
In this course, students will construct world systems of their own design, realistic or imaginary, and will apply these worlds to design interactive applications such as tabletop RPG's, deck builders/card games, motion comics, simple video games, etc. We will consider each media application's affordances and constraints and ponder how best to create an immersive world for players/audience. Students will learn how imaginative worlds operate based on systems (atmosphere, energy, communication, ecology, interaction, and so on) and how such systems frame what can happen in a given world.
