Overview of class

Non-Major Piano is a highly competitive program. We look for students to demonstrate serious

commitment in the form of disciplined attendance and focused, daily practice. "Drops," while

permitted according to the university calendar, are highly discouraged as they adversely affect the

program.

Email Dr. Kan-Walsh (k-kan@northwestern.edu) to sign up for the audition.

Learn two contrasting works and perform at the final performance.

Teaching Method

· Weekly private piano lessons

· Piano Clinic

· Masterclass

Evaluation Method

· Attend 8 lessons/quarter

· Piano Clinic participation

· Graded final performance (recital/jury)

Class Materials (Required)

The fee, $425, is non-refundable after the first lesson (Fee will be billed to your student account.).

Requests for refunds must be made by the end of the fiscal year (ends August 30) that the fee is

incurred.

Class Notes

· Once you are accepted to the program, you do not have to re-audition each quarter during the academic year, given that you maintain a good standing in the program. However, should you choose to drop the class, you must notify Dr. Kan-Walsh.

· All pianists are required to attend the Fall auditions, disregarding their previous status in the program.
