Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, students will:

-be familiar with the global landscape of Business and Human Rights (BHR), including the current debates around the responsibilities of businesses operating transnationally;
-understand the ethical and practical challenges that face lawyers representing victims of corporate abuse, companies trying to comply with competing norms, and governments regulating corporate behavior;
-be able to identify relevant laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions that govern transnational business conduct; and
-be aware of which strategies to improve corporate conduct in global supply chains have proven effective, and which have not.

Evaluation Method

15% participation, 15% presentation, 70% paper
