Overview of class
"Build & Apply is a hands-on course exploring practical AI applications across multiple industries. Each week, students investigate AI impacts in different sectors including healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, sports analytics, and creative industries.
Using accessible tools like Orange, Pythom, Google Colab, Hugging Face, and Kaggle datasets, students perform real-world tasks such as sentiment analysis, stock market prediction, fake news detection, and performance analytics. The course features weekly lab sessions culminating in a final project where students apply AI to a problem of their choice.
This curriculum balances AI theory and case studies with experimentation, requiring only basic familiarity with coding. It's ideal for communication and media students seeking AI literacy and data-driven skills for journalism, marketing, and digital storytelling.
By completion, students will have gained practical experience with industry-standard tools, created a portfolio-ready project, and developed understanding of AI's ethical and societal implications."
