Overview of class
This course will provide students with an immersive experience with methods used in psychological research. Through hands-on activities supplemented by readings, lectures, and discussions students will learn about the full cycle of research in psychology from study conception to data collection, analysis, and interpretation. The course will be centered around experiences conducting and reporting an independent research project. Primary goals for the course include the development of writing and analytic skills, experience and knowledge about data collection and hypothesis testing, and growth in critical thinking.
Registration Requirements
Students must have taken PSYCH 201 or an approved substitute before enrolling in PSYCH 301 (formerly PSYCH 205). Students with AP credit for STAT 210 need to contact psych-advising@u.northwestern.edu about permission to enroll, because CAESAR does not automatically accept that as the prerequisite. Enrollment Requirements: Pre-Reg: Reserved for PSYCH, COG_SCI, NEUROSCI and MUS_THRY students only.
REQ: To register, students must have completed PSYCH 201 with a C- or higher, STAT 202 with a B or higher, Stat 210 with a B or higher, or have AP credit (score of 5) for STAT 210. No first-year students.
