Overview of class

This is the first course in a two-quarter sequence which covers advanced classical mechanics. Topics in 330-1 include Newtonian mechanics, conservation laws, Lagrangian mechanics, and central-force motion. Special topics may also be introduced.

Registration Requirements

Physics 135-1,2,3, Math 220, and 240, Math 250- have taken or concurrently enrolled in. Or equivalents.

Teaching Method

Three one-hour lectures and a one-hour discussion per week. New material can be introduced in discussion. It is not optional.

Evaluation Method

Final and one or more midterm examinations. Weekly problem sets.
