Overview of class

This course is the next level of Theatre Orchestration (Theatre 357). It focuses on the adaptation, reduction, and re-imagination of large scale orchestrations, as well as the development of instrumental and vocal arrangements. Contemporary theatrical orchestrators and their work are studied and emulated through small orchestration/arranging design projects. There is an emphasis in music production and there is extensive use of both Dorico (notation) and Logic (production) software.

Registration Requirements

Prerequisite: Theatre 357. Students who have not taken Theatre 357 but have already orchestrated for Waa-Mu or have taken an orchestration sequence in Bienen may petition the instructor to be admitted to the course.
