Overview of class
Thanks to the popularity of jukebox musicals and the synthesis of the Broadway sound with the sound of popular music, pop rock vocal stylings have become the backbone of the musical theatre singing. This course will explore the history and requirements of pop rock vocals and work on skill building towards pop rock vocal technique with an emphasis on reproducibility and vocal health. Students will be assessed based oral and written evidence of understanding of history and technical demands and practical assessment of their performance technique. Upon completion of the course students will have a better understanding and increased ability to interpret pop rock material and pop rock material for the musical theatre stage.
