This is the first in a sequence of three workshop courses that first year MFA students in Writing for the Screen and Stage will complete during the 2025-2026 academic year. Students in this intensive workshop will explore storytelling concepts fundamental to dramatic writing, including structure, plot, character, and genre, and will learn how to use these core concepts to create compelling new work.
Learning Objectives
Through the analysis of critical works, films, and dramatic scripts, students will learn how the above concepts are utilized to express personal vision. With the goal of writing and revising short screenplays, emphasis throughout will be placed on mastery of all aspects of the art and craft of dramatic writing.
