Overview of class
This course is designed to teach fundamental drawing and design skills for storytellers, visual communicators, conceptual designers. Participants will explore both traditional techniques (drawing and collage) and digital tools (such as Photoshop, SketchUp, and AI), learning to blend the two to create powerful static images for storytelling or research communication.
Ideal for those pursuing careers in animation, comics/graphic novels, product design, photography, or cinematography, this course provides a hands-on approach to visual creation.
Learning Objectives
Participants will maintain a journal, complete weekly design and drawing assignments, engage in critique sessions, and deliver an individual presentation showcasing a design project.
The final project could take the form of a comic story, storyboard, or research-based comics essay. No prior drawing or software experience is required, but participants should be committed to practicing and developing their drawing skills through various assignments.
Class Materials (Required)
Art Materials and Software will be supplied by the RTVF Department.
