Overview of class
This beginner-level ballet course is a space for students to build fundamental ballet technique skills and knowledge through embodied practice and critical reflection. Through in-class barre and center exercises, students will learn and rehearse ballet terminology and movements, as well as approaches to executing ballet technique that emphasize alignment, working within one's individual range of motion, coordination, expression, and musicality. In addition, through readings/viewings, written reflections, and class discussions, students will critically consider ballet as a cultural and social practice.
