Overview of class
This class, taught by Maggie Vannucci, focuses on efficient release-based dance techniques. Grounding first in our own anatomy to discuss structures and functions especially present in this technique style. Together we'll then digest the practical information somatically through Bartenieff Fundamental exercises and improvisation tasks. Each warm-up will generally focus on explorations using gravity, planes of space, the floor as a tool, and clear initiation points while also opening up our connection to each other/the space. The rest of the class time is centered around rich phrase work, incorporating and complicating the early warm-up research. Our time together will help each student think about the dancing body and their unique anatomy while in a technique class. With a strong emphasis on the process of incorporating information into action. This would be a great class for any student looking to progress their current technique experience, develop their floor work skills, and learn tools for a sustainable technique practice.
