Overview of class
Students will complete a mediation skills training through Center for Conflict Resolution (CCR) and may choose to pursue possible certification which would qualify you for Spring mediation practicum conducting actual mediations. In addition to mandatory attendance in all regularly scheduled classes, ALL STUDENTS must attend a MANDATORY TRAINING on SUNDAY, SEPT 28, 2025. Students interested in certification must attend add'l training Sat-Sun Oct 4 & 5.

Improve their skills in listening, questioning, and problem solving
Translate positions to interests
Distinguish major mediation models
Describe the benefits and pitfalls of in-person and online mediation
Identify effective mediator behaviors in the facilitative mediation model
Analyze advocacy skills to determine impact on mediation outcome
Promote appropriate use of mediation to potential users of mediation
Recognize areas for improvement in the field of mediation
Demonstrate creativity and innovation through problem-solving skills
