Overview of class
This course covers the U.S. law governing nonprofits. It covers both state organizational law, such as fiduciary duties, as well as an introduction to federal tax law governing nonprofits. We will discuss generally applicable law, but also focus on a couple areas in which nonprofits are particularly active such as health and education. Students will leave the class with an understanding of the role played by lawyers in private practice and government roles who specialize in nonprofit and tax exempt law.
