Overview of class
What factors and processes are implicated in the production of news media content? What sense do audiences make of these messages? What impact does this have on society? In this course, students will explore and analyze the workings of various aspects of the current media and journalism landscape including patterns of news coverage, the impact of technological change on media organizations and products, the evolving nature of audiences as well as media effects, through the lens provided by conceptual frameworks and theories drawn from media and journalism studies.

Pre-reqs: JOUR 201-1, JOUR 201-2, sophomore standing.
