Overview of class
This course provides an overview of the mental processes supporting our cognitive abilities: perceiving the world around us, representing and using various types of information in service of our goals, remembering information over short and long intervals, communicating with each other, reasoning, and making decisions. We will explore how carefully-designed behavioral experiments and cognitive theories together can lead us to a better understanding of how the mind works. We will also learn how these findings relate to everyday life. Classes will consist of lectures, demonstrations, and discussion.
