Beyond technical skills, we'll examine the fascinating (and sometimes troubling) transformation happening in entertainment and artistic expression. Through engaging discussions and real-world case studies, students will explore current trends, cultural impacts, and key debates surrounding AI in film production. How are established filmmakers incorporating these tools? What new creative possibilities are emerging? What challenges and opportunities lie ahead? What do these advances mean for artists?
The summer session culminates in the production of an original micro-short film that incorporates AI tools into the creative workflow - from standalone image and video-generating platforms to AI tools built into the Adobe Creative Suite to Large Language Models for script development, story structure, and creative brainstorming. Students will sharing insights and discoveries with fellow students while developing their unique artistic voice. Guest speakers from the industry will offer valuable perspectives on how AI is reshaping professional filmmaking.
No prior AI experience is required - just bring your creativity and basic video editing skills. By course completion, you'll have developed practical expertise in AI-assisted filmmaking, gained insight into emerging industry trends, and created an innovative project that bridges traditional cinematography with cutting-edge technology.
