Overview of class
This class is centered on a close reading of Nietzsche's On the Genealogy of Morality in translation. Alongside this text, we will study excerpts from other parts of Nietzsche's writings, and a selection of secondary literature, drawn primarily from the Anglo-American analytic tradition.
Learning Objectives
Through successful completion of this course, students will develop a deeper understanding of Nietzsche's 'On the Genealogy of Morality', including the key interpretive puzzles it raises. Through engagement with recent scholarly work on this text, they will develop and refine their ability to defend their own interpretations of Nietzsche's writing.
