Overview of class
This is the second quarter of a three-quarter sequence Intermediate German. We will continue to use INTERMATIK as our core grammar online resource, discuss everyday culture of German-speaking countries, and read an excerpt from a play by Bertolt Brecht to continue our exploration of modern German literature. In the fall quarter we read a 19th century romantic story, in the winter we will discuss 20th century Germany, and in the spring, a contemporary piece from the 21st century awaits. The primary goal is to develop proficiency in all German language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing). Class activities will be communicative and, in the winter and spring quarters you will have a chance to converse individually with German native speakers online. No purchase necessary; all materials are sponsored by the German department.
