Overview of class

French 115-2 is the second course of a two-quarter sequence (Fall and Winter) that covers the same material as the three-quarter sequence of French 111, but which assumes some prior knowledge of the language. The aim of the course is to review and develop skills in speaking, understanding, reading, writing and cultural competence.
Please note, students cannot audit 100-level courses, or take these courses for P/PN, and must earn a C- or better to advance to the next course in the sequence.

Registration Requirements

The intensive First-year course, French 115-2, is the second of a two-quarter course for students who have studied French for more than one year in High School or in another context. Students are required to take the Northwestern Online French Placement Test (https://placement.madstudio.northwestern.edu/). If students have studied French for more than one year in High School, have not taken the online Placement Test and/or have not received permission from the course coordinator to enroll in French 115, they will not receive credit for this course. Students who have studied French before must take the Placement Test to determine if they should enroll in in 115-2.

Develop students speaking, listening, reading and writing skills at the intermediate level of French in a cultural context and foster critical thinking.
