Overview of class
This advanced expression course centers multilingualism and the experience of multilingual writers. Our coursework will focus on identifying and practicing conventions for communication in professional and academic fields that you are pursuing. We'll work together early in the quarter to identify the disciplinary/ professional communication context(s) each student is interested in. Then we'll engage in a set of assignments that will help you to develop your skills and awareness of communication conventions in your chosen contexts. In addition to practicing these conventions, we'll examine the value systems that underlie them. For all major assignments, we'll follow a careful process of planning, drafting, community feedback, revision, and reflection. Class meetings are conducted as seminar discussions and workshops and the instructor will meet with you regularly for feedback conferences.
