Overview of class
This course examines Asian American advertising and consumer culture by focusing on concepts of racial capitalism, authenticity, and appropriation. We will examine case studies from advertising, food, fashion, and other cultural forms among Asian American communities as well as their uptake and circulation in the broader U.S. population.
