Overview of class
This course teaches students how to act for the camera rather than the stage. We will explore the differences between stage and screen acting, examining how movements and expressions appear with various lenses, shot sizes, and camera angles. We'll learn how to build emotions and ultimately create drama on screen with the help of technical gear. Through assignments and class exercises, we will recreate many iconic scenes from cinema history, studying how famous performers effectively conveyed emotions and how different filmmaking styles require unique performance approaches. This class provides a valuable opportunity for both theatre and film students to build their portfolios.
