Overview of class
This class introduces students to the history and methods of video and new media installation. Light is a primary medium and the class will touch upon cinema, photography, architecture, sculpture and the urban environment as inspirations. The class also investigates the importance of surface and scale in relation to video installations. Students will learn basic video capture, editing, compositing, projection mapping and other techniques to produce work within the video art realm.
Learning Objectives
Students learn about editing techniques, different historical movements and contemporary examples in video art and video installations, and will be able to conceptualize and create a final project based on what they learned from the class.

Enrollment Requirements
Enrollment Requirements: Reserved for RTVF Majors with the RTVF 190-0 prerequisite or be in Writing: MFA or Documentary Media: MFA programs until the end of preregistration, after which time enrollment will be open to everyone with the prerequisite.
