Overview of class

This class focuses on release-based phrase work and Bartenieff Fundamentals. Starting with improvisation, we focus on a task that explores using gravity, planes of space, the floor as a tool, and clear initiation points. Then moving into phrase work incorporating and complicating what we explored in our improvisation. My phrases are often interested in hardly finding verticality, making transitions more fluid and seamless. They also consistently challenge the body to stay relaxed and efficient with the use of our muscles. Our time together will also help each student think about the dancing body, focusing on the process of incorporating information into action. This would be a great class for any student looking to progress their current technique experience, grow their floor work skills, and dance with more ease and clarity.
