Overview of class
Why are archives important? How are they created, curated, funded, and managed? And how can we use them? In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of the history and theory of archival collection and preservation practices, as a foundation for doing archival research themselves. The course is hands-on, with students pursuing media history projects throughout the quarter and visiting a range of local archives.
