Overview of class
This course focuses on legal and ethical issues of higher education administration. Topics include the framework of federal, state and local laws that apply to higher education institutions; duty of care, torts and negligence; Title IX, sexual misconduct, reporting and the law; crime, safety and policing on campus; civil rights with regards to free speech and assembly, association, inclusion, diversity, and equal protection; health and wellness (drugs, alcohol, hazing and discipline); and international education/study abroad risk management.
