Overview of class
The process of innovation - developing a new idea, creating a novel product, and scaling production - cannot be accomplished single-handedly. Rather, innovation requires a collaborative team and a leader who can build an organization that is willing and able to share knowledge, resolve differences, and learn together.
This course is designed for undergraduates who want to understand transformational leadership and the unique role that leaders play in nurturing teams to problem-solve, collaborate, and continuously innovate.
We will examine leadership and the impact of leadership styles on team effectiveness, drawing from theories and case studies, as well as our personal experiences. We will explore organizational culture, motivation, conflict management, and communication. Finally, we will develop our own approaches to leadership as we tackle innovation work - whether in the classroom as students or in the industry as future entrepreneurs and executives.
