Overview of class

Editors are largely unsung — but critically important — heroines in creation of the best journalism. Editors collaborate with writers, designers, photographers, and fact checkers to produce memorable narratives. This course is a workshop, drawing on the experience of the best practitioners. It immerses students in a particular magazine, pushing as close as we can in a classroom to the real world experience of being on the job at a magazine. We focus on editing as "curation in the present tense" on a ten-week journey of discovery that centers on the enduring power of magazine-style journalism in a fast-changing domain.
